How did you heat water in a Victorian house? Did you use the hot tap? Most Victorian houses had a range cooker - a large oven which was used for cooking all the meals on and for heating water. Maids would have had to have swet this clean every morning. You can see this range at Chelmsford Museum. It is not original but gives you an idea of what a Victorian kitchen would have looked like.
