Dr Dharm Sheel Chowdhary (1902-1959) came to London in 1928 from the Punjab. He became a GP in Laindon, Essex in 1931 and made a deep impression on the Laindon community. He was so popular that in 1966, seven years after his death, the new local school was named Chowdhary County Primary School.
