This table appears on a 1798 statistical map of Essex. It lists the number of inhabitants within the county in addition to the militia in case of invasion by the French. The 15th column lists the numbers of Aliens - 54 with over half of them in the subdivision of Ilford. Aliens, Quakers, males under 15 and over 60, females and infirm persons were 'incapable of active service'.
