The secretary of the Association for Preventing the Immigration of Destitute Aliens William Wilkins wrote this book entitled "The Alien Invasion". As well as targeting the Italians, the book blames the recently arrived Jews from Russia and Eastern Europe for stealing jobs and forcing up rents by living in crowded spaces. All sectors of society supported the anti-alien campaign including Anglicans such as the Bishop of Bedford, trade unions, Tories and even some prominent members of the Jewish community.
