This gravestone in Eriswell churchyard is a replica of the original which is now inside the church. It records the death and burial of James Paul, a North American Indian who was brought to England and educated by the New England Company then apprenticed to builder Thomas Houghton. James died aged 16 on 15 November 1820. He was buried on 18 November.
