The Regent Theatre in Moulsham Street was the the local cinema. Cinemas were the place to find out all the up to date information about the Second World War apart from the wireless radio.
Imagine what it would have been like not to own a television and to have to go out to see moving pictures.
The image with school children is from about 1930, and shows children from Trinity Road School attending a talk on kindness to animals.
