Pigs can be breed all year round, unlike some animals, for example, sheep that have a lambing season in the spring. Each breeding sow (female pig) spends 6 weeks feeding her litter, 6 weeks resting and then six weeks with the boar (male pig). Picture taken at Farrowby Farm, Hertfordshire on January 15th 2007.
