The suit case not only has a wealth of uniforms for the pupils to try on but it has a silk map, a map of where all the airfields were in the UK, a poem called the 'cautious couplets' and a number of letters and cards to and from loved ones. The poem warns about careless talk in the war. Silk maps, like the one shown here, were given to troups going into enemy areas. It was made of silk so it would be durable, light weight and easily disguised by being sewn into the lining of clothing.
