This is the entry in the Burial Register for the Parish of Eriswell fopr 18th November 1820. James Paul, an apprentice to the carpenter and builder Thomas Houghton, died aged 16 or 15 three days earlier. According to his gravestone in Eriswell churchyard, he was a North American Indian who came to England and was educated here at the expense of the New England Company.
