A heaped spoonful(tea, dessert or table spoon)is piled up high. Some recipes use the volume of a spoon for dry ingredients such as spices, salt or baking powder. You can pour the ingredients into the spoon (put a bowl underneath to catch the overflow) or dip the spoon into the container and bring it out heaped up.
