The terraces that can be seen in the fields in this photo, also known as 'strip lynchets', are a result of ancient field systems.
It is believed that lynchets are formed when a hillside field is ploughed over a long period of time. The disturbed soil slips down the hillside, creating a ridge of earth.
These fields are located on the Dorset coast, at Winspit.
