Young people in the 20's wanted to have fun and put all the sorrow of the war behind them. The light hearted, devil-may-care attitude of rich young people, who attended drunken cocktail parties and nightclubs unchaperoned, shocked the older generation. The frivolity, however, began to decline with the depression and darkening political climate of the 1930s.
