This building was more recently known as The Guild Hall and was returned to what was believed to be the original
title for the house Badynghams. The house name, Badynghams, goes back to the 14th century and refers to a cottage or tenement which was either on the site of the house today or has been incorporated within it. Records show that a John and Agnes Badyngham lived in what would have been a simply designed cottage, not as seen today. There are still some very old timbers in the roof that may have come from the original cottage. The next known records of Badynghams came from the mid 16th century, during the reign of Elizabeth 1st. The original cottage had
become a medieval hall house but the present style of the building, with the brickwork and very distinctive Elizabethan chimneys indicates that these were built towards the end of the 16th century.
