In 1905, volunteers hand-dug a pond in what was later to become the more manicured Howard Park. This pond became the concrete paddling pool in 1930.

The angle of ‘Paddling Pool 1920’ and ‘Pond 1913’ allows you to see a vague similarity in the shape of the pond and the pool, when looking towards Howard Hall.
