In 1905, volunteers hand-dug a pond in what was later to become the more manicured Howard Park. This pond became the concrete paddling pool in 1930.
This pack includes various pictures of the original pond, and the later paddling pool, including a photograph from The Citizen newspaper, May 16th 1930, which shows the workmen pumping cement to make the pool.
The angle ‘Howard Park Paddling Pool 1920’ and ‘Howard Park Pond 1913’ allows you to see a vague similarity in the shape of the pond and the pool, when looking towards Howard Hall.
