The first flowers are now out on the Ox-eye Daisy. This large daisy, with flowers up to 5cm in diameter, grows on grassy banks, roadsides and meadows. It flowers mainly from June to August. In former times the plant was boiled and the extract used to cure many illnesses including chest and liver complaints and sore eyes. Picture taken near Bedford - 22nd May 2009.
