“This is a painting which I have borrowed from Stroud Green School. It was painted by a 10 year old Stroud Green pupil just after he had been evacuated to Hatfield. It is rather faded now but it shows his memories of leaving home. All the children waiting to board the red buses which will take them to the railway station and the parents standing watching, and wondering how long it will be before they see their children again.”
