Garden Square Shopping Centre, designed by Damond, Lock, Grabowski & Partners, 1973-5.

Opened by HRH Duke of Gloucester, this centre contained two supermarkets, two large shop units, a public hall above a covered market and 34 small shops.

The developed also included the new North Herts District Council Offices and a multi-storey car park. This development replaced Commerce Avenue.
