The two calves in the picture, lying on the straw, are less than a day old. The mother of the black calf is a breed known as 'Aberdeen Angus'. They calves are breed for beef however, some of the heifers may be kept if any of the mothers need replacing. Calves are reared naturally on their mothers for eight months and then graze the Hertfordshire pastures. Picture taken 23rd February 2007 at Foxholes Farm, Hertfordshire.
