Derwent Reservoir is the middle of three reservoirs in the Upper Derwent Valley in Derbyshire. The River Derwent flows through Howden Reservoir, then Derwent Reservoir and finally through Ladybower Reservoir. The reservoir is approx 2km long with Howden Dam at the northern end and Derwent Dam (pictured here) at the southern end.
During the second world war this reservoir and dam was used by 617 squadron to practice for the famous 'Dam Buster' raids in Germany.
