This plant grows on cliffs and in salt marshes. The photograph is of a single plant but it is often seen in large drifts of plants. It is well adapted to infertile terrain; it is salt tolerant with long roots. It is also sometimes known as Sea pink or Rock rose. It remains green throughout most of the year. The flower head is pink or pinky mauve and the leaves are long and thin. Photograph taken at Burnham Overy Straithe, Norfolk 22nd September 2010.
