The Fernsehturm

The Fernsehturm (TV Tower) was built between 1965 and 1969 during the Communist period by the former GDR government. It is close to the Alexanderplatz and was intended as a symbol of East German power and invention. It remains one of the iconic symbols of Berlin today.
