The enormous building on Wilhelmstrasse is now the German Finance Ministry but it has served a number of other purposes during its existence.
During the Nazi era this building was the Reichsluftfahrtministerium or Aviation ministry building and the HQ of Hermann Goring. It somehow survived the allied bombing in 1945 and remained almost wholly intact at the end of the war.
During the time of the GDR the buidling was in East Berlin and was known as the House of Ministries.
In the foreground is one of the remaining sections of the Berlin Wall and the permanent exhibition known as the 'Topography of Terror'.
