The most common yellow-orange lichen, it is often, although not exclusively, found near to the sea and is tolerant of salt spray and nitrogen and can be found on rocks and near seabird perches and on the trunks of salt marsh shrubs. Its spores are released from fruiting discs in the centre of the thallus. Picture taken at Salthouse, Norfolk on the higher beach, February 9th 2001.
