A shrubby willow common along rivers at low elevations. This plant has bright yellow male catkins with two stamens coming from each flower. The leaves, when they appear, are white with silky hairs underneath and very long. The catkins are produced in April and May with the leaves. Picture taken April 8th 2006 at Felmersham, Bedfordshire.
