This spider lives in bushes and other vegetation. The female (5-6.6mm) is slightly bigger than the male Female (4-6.6mm). It has a yellow-brown cephalothorax with dark brown markings, and brown abdomen with white zigzag marks. The Male is similar to female but with a paler abdomen, and cream zig-zags along the sides. It lacks the white zig-zags. Its web is a suspended sheet of silk. Sometimes the Sheet Web Spider will invade other spiders webs and drive the host out, or eat them. Its main diet is insects. Picture taken at Bedford on 3rd August 2011.
