This tree is now quite rare in the wild but is often planted. Unlike Small Leaved Lime or Common Lime it does not have bosses on the trunk or suckers at the base. The leaves are a lighter green than those of Common Lime and are hairy. It flowers in mid June earlier than the other limes and the fruits are strongly ribbed. Picture taken 30th June 2006 near Bedford. Unfortunately the flower pictures taken were fuzzy. As it is the only Large leaved Lime we found, we will return in 2007 and add these to the gallery then.
