The Red-and-black Froghopper is a species of froghopper in the family Cercopidae and order Hemiptera. It has very distinctive red and black markings.They are around 8-10.5 mm in length. The nymphs feed on underground roots and are hard to find. It is common in southern England in wooded or more open drassland habitats and the adults can be seen between April and August. Adult froghoppers jump from plant to plant hence their name. Picture taken 27th May 2012 at Bromham Nature Reserve.
