Darkling Beetle is a generic term mm and its gold coloured wingscases (elytra) are covered in short hair, as to a lesser extent is its thorax and head. It is common throughout the UK. The larval stage overwinters in damp leaf litter. Picture taken at Bromham Natire Reserve 25th May 2012
