A tall perennial that produces beautiful violet/blue flowers on a leafy stem with deeply cut leaves and long, hairy and frequently reddish stems. It flowers May to September, consist of five un-notched violet blue petals. It can be found on rough grassland such as verges and stream sides and of damp hay meadows and lightly grazed pastures. It is a native found throughout most of Great Britain except for the north west of Scotland. Picture taken at Bromham Nature Reserve on 27th May 2012.
