This plant grows mainly in the South and Southeast of the Country in calcareous grassland, unfertilised flower meadows, beside roads, paths and railways, on coastal shingle and grassland. It is a delicate-looking, annual herb that can grow up to 90cm.
It has crimson-pink flowers that are in pairs on long stalks. The stems and leaves are grass-like.
