A herb with a weak brittle stem (15-60 cm long). It has stalkless rough edges leaves. It flowers from April - June. Its flowers are white and divided to about half way down the petal length. It is very common in hedgerows, waysides and woods. Its common name comes from the fact it was once thought to cure stitch in runners. The picking of it was also thought to provoke thunder storms.
