This is one of the largest volumes in the Bedfordshire and Luton Archives.

It includes prisoners held in both the County Gaol and the House of Correction. Information is arranged under printed headings, giving when committed, name, age, height, complexion, colour of hair and eyes, where born, last residence, single or married, number of children, degree of instruction, general remarks, trade or occupation, committed by, further examination, offence, when tried, tried by, original sentence, present sentence, whether in custody before and when discharged. There is an index in first letter order.

The volume covers the period 1847 to 1856.
