Register of prisoners in the New House of Correction. This gives the prisoners name, place of birth, late residence, trade, age, height, complexion, colour of hair and eyes, remarks, whether they were married or single and how they behaved . It tells us when they were committed and by whom, for what offence and the sentence they received. We can see when and how they were discharged, what employment they had while in the prison and how much they earned.

Originally marked No 3 on the cover it contains entries for the period 1842 to 1849. [Please note that the database only includes entries up to the end of 1846]

Unfortunately Volume 2 which covered the period 1828 to 1841 was never received by the Archives Service and is probably lost.
