Swans are one of our largest flying birds.  The Mute Swan which is the most common white swan seen in our country, will find a mate and usually keep with that mate for life.

Swans lay their eggs in nests, laying one egg every 12 -24 hours.  Eggs usually hatch 6 weeks later.

Baby Swans are called cygnets and can sometimes be eaten by crows, herons, magpies, pike and large perch. Both cygnets and full-grown swans are also eaten by foxes and mink.
