Straw is the dry stalks of cereal plants after the grain has been removed. It is usually gathered and stored in rolls, as in this picture or bales and then stacked until needed.

Farmers use it for feeding their animals or provinding their bedding, it is also sometimes used for fuel. Straw is also a good insulator and is sometimes used to 'thatch' a house
