The Museum was built as a family home for a wealthy local solicitor in the 1870s. Its external appearence has changed very little and tells us much about how Mr Scargill wanted his visitors to think of him. Inside the Museum has local history galleries, including the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment gallery and Luton Life which looks are the life and work of Luton people since the 1850s. From 1st November it will also have an Ancient Greek gallery showcasing objects from the British Museum. There is also a ranging programme of temporary exhibitions.
