Painted wooden coffin and mummy of Djedhor from the Ptolemaic Period) About 250BC from Akhumin. The outer wrappings of this mummy have been coated with black asphalt from the Dead Sea, which must have been exported to Egypt. A gilded mask has been placed on top along with representation of the Goddess Nut, Sons of Horus, Isis, Nephthys and other deities. CAT scans were taken of the mummy, which is good condition. The brain has been removed through to nasal passage and artificial eyes have been placed in the eye sockets. Picture taken at the British Museum January 2007.
