Home of the famous Bow Bells and the Parish church for the City Business District. It has an 11th century crypt, However much of the church had to be rebuilt after wartime bombing. The architect was Laurence King. The church has been at the heart of the community on Cheapside since 1080 and to be a true Cockney you meant to be born within the sound of the Bow Bells. A true Cockney is born within the sound of Bow Bells. Both this church and a church in Bow claim to be the centre of this folk legend. If it were this church the numbers of true Cockneys would be tiny. Picture taken 31st July 2007.
