Blackfriars bridge taken from South of the river. The original Blackfriars Bridge road crossing was opened in 1769, with the current bridge being designed by Joseph Cubitt and built in 1860-9 at cost of £401,131. The railway bridge replaced a previous bridge that was not strong enough the piers of the bridge are still present next to the current bridge.
