Winchester Palace was once the London residence of the highly powerful Bishop of Winchester. It is located on the south bank of the Thames in Southwark. It was built by Henry of Blois and remained in use until the seventeenth century, when it was divided into warehouses but much of was destroyed by fire in 1814.
