Colchester Castle

Since the castle was built, between 1076 and 1125, the keep has undergone much alteration. The upper part was demolished in the 1690's. The surviving ruin was adapted in the 18th century by Charles Gray, local member of parliament for this own use. He added the large windows, domed tower and tiled roof. Picture taken June 2007.
