The Victorians were fascinated by Ancient Egypt and often travelled on sightseeing tours. A gentleman called George Herrington chartered a boat in 1856 and sailed up the Nile; in a cemetery at Luxor he brought this mummy for seven sovereigns. Picture taken at Colchester Castle Museum.
