Clarkson famously made a decision to devote his life to the abolition movement while resting at Wadesmill on a journey to London. These articles refer to this decision and an obelisk that was built at the location to commemorate his work. From the William Blyth Gerish Collection, Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies.
