Porthleven is situated on Cornwall's south coast just a few miles from Helston. The harbour was built as a refuge for boats and ships travelling along the rugged and dangerous Cornish coast. The original harbour was built in 1825 and was then taken over by Harvey & Co in 1850 and the current harbour dates from this time.
