An example of high design transformed into an item for the mass market. The metal sculptured chair was from a limited edition by designer Ron Arad;s studio and not intended for the mass market. The indentations of the rubber hammer used to beat it out were retained to show it was hand made. Highly polished stainless steel was a popular design material at this time. The upholstered version was intended for the mass market and serially produced, the cold mirrored steel was transformed into warm fabric. Picture taken at the Victoria and Albert Museum London.
