Glass has many uses, here is one of the more unusual. The chair is by Danny Lane and is both a piece of furniture ans a freestanding sculpture, with the function secondary to the sculpture. It was made in 1988 of sheet glass and steel. The aim was to challenge notions of the chair as primarily utilitarian and domestic as and sets materials in direct conflict with the function. Picture taken at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
