Trafalgar Square is one of the most famous squares in the world. It lies at the very heart of London, at the point where a number of major routes join - Pall Mall, Charing Cross Road, The Mall and The Strand. It is foremost a tribute to one of Britain's great naval heroes, Admiral Nelson, who died in 1805 defending his country from the French and Spanish at the Battle of Trafalgar.
