Alton Watermill originally stood in Stutton, Suffolk. It was moved to the Museum when Alton Water, a large man-made reservoir, was created. This reservoir has flooded the area where the Mill once stood. A mill pond was created behind the Mill so that we could still grind flour and animal food. The Mill is in full working order and is run on a regular basis.
