Painted here in oil on canvas, Lady Ann was lady-in-waiting to Queen Caroline. The ermine robe in the painting shows her aristocratic status, although by this time other clothes, such as her expensive dress were becoming more available to women not of noble birth. The whole picture can be seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
